More than the quality of the strategy, its effective execution matters. Research shows that a mediocre strategy executed well produces better results than an excellent strategy poorly executed.

Often, even established organisations don’t have a sound strategy execution system implemented. Consequently, the strategy is not translated into operations. It remains in the form of documents and presentation slides safely archived, but not linked to the organisation’s actual operations. Daily actions and initiatives being run in the organisation are invariably not aligned to the strategy, either because the strategy is not spelt well, or the top leadership itself is busy in operations.
